Grab a towel, grab a swimsuit and grab some friends for a free scuba diving event May 26 at the SEMO Recreation Center.

“Discover Scuba” is an event hosted by the Scuba Club of SEMO with Cape Dive & Travel, along with Ozark Dive Company, who are providing all the equipment used during the training.

Elaina Rauh, senior business administration major and president of the Scuba Club, said this is an amazing opportunity for SEMO students to experience scuba diving.

“You do not need to bring any equipment as we provide all of that,” Rauh said. “It is an amazing chance to test out the underwater world.”

Raul has been scuba diving for over 10 years and is passionate about wanting SEMO students to explore what lies under the water’s surface.

“Seventy percent of the Earth is covered in water and scuba diving is your ticket to explore it,” Raul said.

During the event, participants will learn the basics of scuba diving, such as breathing under water and learning about the equipment.

The event is open to anyone May 26 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. For anyone interested in learning how to scuba dive, there is an RSVP form on the Discover Scuba website.
