According to a campus alert posted around campus, an attempted "strong-arm robbery" took place yesterday at approximately 9:21 p.m. in front of Kent Library.

As a person exited the library, he was approached at the top of the steps by the suspect who grabbed a hold of the patron's laptop and tried to take it away. When the patron pulled the laptop back, the suspect fled east from the scene on foot.

The suspect is described as an African American man in his early 20s with shoulder-length dread-style hair, around 5-foot-9 to 5 -10 tall and weighing approximately 130 pounds.

The university is asking that anyone with information calls the University Police at (573) 651-2215. The university is also asking that students take extra safety precautions on campus by never walking alone, to walk in the lighted corridors and to keep doors locked at all times.
