According to the Southeast Missourian, Christopher Grant, 18, of Collinsville, Illinois, was in custody Wednesday and faces first-degree murder charges for the murder of Robert (Bobby) Christman III.

Christman was a sophomore at Southeast Missouri State University, and a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Christman was murdered on Jan. 11 after Grant allegedly attempted to rob Christman's girlfriend while she was seated in the back of a parked vehicle in downtown St. Louis. Christman, who was sitting in the passenger seat of the vehicle, intervened in the robbery and was shot in the head. Christman died later the same day.

As the Southeast Missourian reported, along with murder, prosecutors have charged Grant with three counts of armed criminal action, first-degree attempted robbery and unlawful use of a weapon by firing a gun at a car.

Grant is being held on $1 million cash-only bond.

In a recent report from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, two suspects thought to be in connection with the murder were arrested in late January, with Grant not being one of them. According to the Southeast Missourian, it is still unclear if the men are connected to the murder.
