Yes, it is very disappointing we don’t get to have spring break this semester, but complaining about it over and over again isn’t going to magically bring it back for this one year.

However, there are ways you can make the most of not having it and still not burn out by the middle of April. Here are a few ways to do so:

· Don’t use the reading days to catch up on homework; that is not the point of having these days. Also, though, don’t use them as an excuse to do absolutely nothing all day — especially if you are behind on work.

· Talk to your professors! If there is one day you really need a break from everything, send them an email to explain how you are feeling. You might be surprised to learn that just like you, they are also overwhelmed. With this being said, don’t do this too often so that it puts you behind.

· Take a day or weekend trip to a nearby city or even to your home. Memphis and St. Louis are both just a short drive away from Cape, and it can be good to get out and do something different every once in a while.

· Don’t take a week off to go party. This is exactly why we don’t have a spring break this year. Wouldn’t it suck to have to quarantine for two weeks after partying at an overrated location when you could have just stayed in Cape(and still drank cheap beer) safely?

I know these ideas can seem kind of lame; however, it’s important to remember we are still living in a pandemic, and it’s not the safest idea for you or those you live with to travel to some beach in Florida just to drink all day and be around sweaty people.

And, yeah, I know not everyone spends their break like a scene out of “22 Jump Street,” and if you can go on vacation safely, then cool. Just remember school isn’t going to disappear — even if you do for a week.
