Sigma Phi Epsilon hosted ‘Grillin with the Ep’s’ at their on-campus house to mark the start of their philanthropy week on Feb. 6.

Sig Ep set up a grill on the back patio of their house in Greek Village to sell burgers and hot dogs. All the money they raised at the event will go to Big Brothers and Sisters of Cape Girardeau.

Junior Business Entrepreneurship major and former Vice President of Finance at Sig Ep Ethan Huegerich assisted in planning the event.

“I am excited to see the Sig Ep and greek life community contribute to the Cape Girardeau community in a meaningful way,” Huegerich said.

Junior Sports Management major Isaiah Brown said his fraternity looks forward to their philanthropy week every year.

“Sig Ep is excited that we get to put together an event to give back,” Brown said.

Brothers in every grade expressed enthusiasm for their philanthropy week.

Freshman Marketing Major Jacob Appleton explained as a freshman, he appreciates that Sig Ep cares about the Cape Girardeau community.

“It’s great to see Sig Ep support the Big Brothers Big Sisters foundation. We had an amazing turnout at Grillin tonight. I couldn’t ask for better brothers,” Appleton said.

This event gave students a chance to do something fun while also supporting a good cause.

Sophomore Cyber Security major Kam Simon said he enjoys Grillin’ with the Ep’s because the chapter comes together to host a fun event to give back that involves the SEMO community.

“This is a good bonding event for brothers,” Simon said.

There will be two more events to fundraise this week: Bingo Cards and Football Friday. Bingo Cards will be posted on Feb. 8 on Sigma Phi Epsilon social media stories with information on how to donate. Football Friday is a flag football tournament that will be hosted at the Intramural Fields.
