Located at 536 Broadway, Annie Laurie’s is a place that draws the eye of any Southeast student driving or walking by.

On Sept. 30, Annie Laurie’s celebrated its 10-year anniversary as a business. Friends and family celebrated at the event with food and refreshments being served, followed by a ribbon cutting from the Cape Chamber of Commerce.

For the 10-year anniversary, Annie Laurie's created an all new logo that dropped the “Antiques” in its name, making the store simply Annie Laurie’s: An Eclectic Emporium.

Laurie Everett, owner of Annie Laurie’s runs the store and her family lives on the second floor of the building.

“We dropped the antique name, because we still do sell antiques but we also sell lots of other things as well,” Everett said.

Everett said they purchase items from estate sales, consignment shops and auctions. She also said they work with a few dealers.

Within the past 10 years, Annie Laurie’s has expanded into a separate building called the Indie House. The Indie House features multiple businesses, such as Mother Earth by Annie Laurie's, which offers Earth-based products including plants. Other small businesses and an apartment occupy the rest of the building.

“We bought the building last October and rehabbed it through the winter,” Everett said.

Everett said the past 10 years have been a new adventure each and every day.

“I wake up every morning excited to work,” Everett said.
