A Honda Pilot was eastbound on Bellevue Street. The scooter was northbound on Sprigg Street.

According to traffic officer David Valentine of the Cape Girardeau Police Department, the Honda Pilot driver said he did not see the scooter driver. The Honda pilot was at a stop sign and then proceeded out in front of the scooter. The scooter struck the right front fender of the Honda pilot, and the scooter driver was ejected from the scooter.

The driver of the scooter did not suffer any life-threatening injuries and was transported by private vehicle to St. Francis Hospital, according to Valentine. The scooter driver was not wearing a helmet.

Valentine said that the Cape Girardeau Police Department responds to many scooter accidents.

"It's every day at this point. It's out of control," Valentine said.

The names of the Honda Pilot driver and the scooter driver were not given by Cape Girardeau police.
